The department carries out activities stated below with a holistic multi-disciplinary approach:

- To apply modem techniques used in livestock breeding and optimization in order to obtain animal food such as meat, milk and eggs and animal fibre such as mohair and wool and leather.

- to apply environmentally friendly production systems (good farming, organic farming, etc.) and sustainable management principles and practices (integrated crop management, feed production and optimization, feed technology, animal nutrition, health care, etc.),

- to use natural resources efficiently,

- to deal with animal breeding, cattle breeding, sheep breeding, poultry farming, beekeeping, animal health, production economics, farm management, animal food products quality (standards and quality systems)

- to do research, training and extension activities regarding the planning of the whole process and implementation of modern Technologies.
