The TURK-COSE 2024 Congress, led by the NÖHÜ Research and Application Center on Culture and Education of Kazakhstan and our Faculty Dean's Office, was held in Baku this year.


Under the leadership of our university's "Kazakh Culture and Education Research and Application Center," the 6th International Turkic World Congress on Science and Engineering (TURK-COSE 2024)—one of the prominent scientific events in the Turkic World—was held this year in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

The two-day congress was organized through a partnership between Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, and Ahmet Yesevi University, with Azerbaijan Technical University hosting the event.

A Platform for Sharing Scientific Knowledge and Enhancing Collaborations

Held between December 19–21, 2024, the congress brought together numerous scientists from Asia, Africa, Europe, and particularly the Turkic World. The event focused on strategic themes such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, renewable energy, nanotechnology, smart cities, and food and agricultural technologies. Participants presented scientific papers in the fields of science and engineering. The congress reaffirmed its role as a significant platform for sharing scientific knowledge within the Turkic World and fostering international collaborations.


Remarks from Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hasan Uslu

During the opening ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Uslu highlighted the congress's importance as a manifestation of academic unity within the Turkic World. He stated:

"Through the TURK-COSE 2024 Congress, we are honored to bring together numerous scientists from Asia, Africa, and Europe, especially the Turkic World, here in Baku. This congress not only represents the academic realization of the unity of the Turkic World, which we have witnessed with excitement and happiness in recent years, but it also serves as an internationally significant scientific event."

Prof. Dr. Uslu emphasized the role of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University in developing vital collaborations across the Turkic World, extending from Turkistan to the Balkans, under the principle of "unity in language, thought, and action."


Acknowledgments

The Rector expressed gratitude to Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Ahmet Yesevi University, and Azerbaijan Technical University for their contributions, as well as to all participants and contributors.


Notable Presentations and Sessions

Speaking on behalf of the Congress Co-Chairs, Prof. Dr. Murat Barut, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Acting Director of the Kazakh Culture and Education Research and Application Center, outlined the event's highlights:

1.     Keynote Speakers:

  •  Prof. Dr. Mustafa Güden (Izmir Institute of Technology): "Modeling the Impact Behavior of Polycarbonate (Canopy) Against Bird Impact."
  • Prof. Dr. Marco Rivera (University of Nottingham): "Model Predictive Control for Power Converters and Electrical Drives."
  • MSc. Adnan Görgülü (Director of Hydrogen Compression, Siemens Energy, Germany): "Review of Hydrogen Production Technologies from a Business Perspective."

2.     Parallel Sessions:
TURK-COSE 2024 hosted 14 parallel sessions, covering topics like AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGIES, BIOLOGY, BIOTECHNOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, CIVIL ENGINEERING, COMPUTER ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL and ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING, ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING, FOOD ENGINEERING, GEOLOGICAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND MINING ENGINEERING, MATHEMATICS, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, MEDICINE, and PHYSIC.

  • A total of 326 papers were presented, with 159 from Turkey and 167 from 33 countries including Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Germany, Japan, the UK, and others.

Prof. Dr. Barut concluded by expressing deep gratitude on behalf of the Co-Chairs to the host institutions and all contributors. He emphasized the cultural and academic significance of Azerbaijan, stating:

"Azerbaijan is our soul, and Baku is our pride. From this cherished region of the Turkic World, we hope to spread the latest advancements in science and engineering, alongside the values of peace, brotherhood, and friendship, to the world."

Prof. Dr. Barut extended special thanks to the leadership of Azerbaijan Technical University, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Ahmet Yesevi University, and Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, along with all participants, for making the event a success.
