NIĞDE ÖMER HALİSDEMİR UNIVERSITY
SUSTAINABLE INVESTMENT POLICY
Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University adopts a policy of considering investment decisions not only on the basis of economic benefit, but also in line with the principles of environmental responsibility, social contribution, and long-term sustainability. In this context, the university prioritizes the protection of natural resources, the reduction of carbon footprint, the increase of social benefit, and the efficient use of financial resources in all investment processes.
Within the framework of its environmental sustainability approach, the university prioritizes energy-efficient projects, encourages the use of renewable energy sources, and supports practices that improve water and waste management. The goal is to minimize the environmental impact of investments made throughout the campus, contribute to the fight against climate change, and promote a sustainable campus concept.
Social sustainability is a significant component of the university's investment policies. In this regard, the principles of accessibility, inclusivity, and equality are observed in all investments; and infrastructure investments that will ensure the full participation of disabled individuals in campus life are prioritized. Projects that improve the quality of life for students and staff, strengthen social interaction, and generate societal benefits are supported.
In terms of economic sustainability, the university considers the long-term cost-benefit balance in investment decisions, adopts a life cycle cost approach, and aims to ensure the efficient use of resources. Prioritizing investments that generate long-term value, not just short-term value, and contribute to institutional sustainability is among the fundamental priorities.
The university prioritizes transparency, accountability, and participation in investment processes. Investment decisions are evaluated according to criteria such as environmental impact, energy and water efficiency, social benefit, technological innovation, and alignment with sustainability goals. Analyzing the sustainability impacts of large-scale investments and making decisions accordingly is adopted.
Priority investment areas include renewable energy systems, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly building projects, sustainable transportation solutions, water management and recovery systems, waste management and recycling infrastructure, and smart campus applications. Investments in these areas are intended to directly contribute to the university's sustainability performance.
The university regularly monitors and evaluates investment processes to ensure the effectiveness of sustainable investment practices. Within this framework, indicators such as energy saving, reduction of carbon emissions, water consumption, and waste management are monitored; and a continuous improvement approach is adopted in line with the results obtained. Sustainability performance related to investment activities is reported periodically and shared with relevant stakeholders.
Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University views the concept of sustainable investment as an integral part of its corporate culture and encourages all academic and administrative units to act in this direction. This policy aims to make sustainability a fundamental principle in the university's future investments.
