Under the supervisiory of Prof. Dr. Bora Timurkutluk, a faculty member of our Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and with the support of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), batteries with surface properties that will double the flight time of UAVs compared to traditional microtubes have been developed as part of the 'Development of an Original Microtube Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Project.' The project is being carried out at our university's Prof. Dr. Turhan Nejat Veziroğlu Clean Energy Research and Application Center. The project team includes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Timurkutluk from NÖHÜ Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Energy Science and Technologies (Interdisciplinary) Department, Dr. Tolga Altan, and Research Asst. Dr. Sezer Önbilgin from the Faculty of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Department, as well as postgraduate students at the master's and doctoral levels.
In a related statement, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hasan Uslu, stated that our university, which holds the title of 'University Specializing in Hydrogen and Fuel Cells,' continues to achieve successes worthy of this title. Rector Uslu emphasized that this project, which will enable UAVs to stay in the air longer, once again demonstrates our university's potential in hydrogen and fuel cells, and highlighted that the work will make a direct contribution to our country's defense industry. Finally, our Rector thanked TÜBİTAK for their support and the faculty members who contributed to the project, and expressed that our university's support for such scientific research and development activities will continue to increase.
