General Description

Nigde Omer Halisdemir University is state a university and was formally established on July 11, 1992 in Nigde located in the region of Cappadocia, middle of Anatolia under the name of Nigde University.The city is highly favorable in terms of transportation and safety, and offers an economic way of living.

Nigde Omer Halisdemir University has 10 Faculties, 3 High Schools, 6 Associate Degree schools, 3 graduate schools, 4 departments under the Rectorate unit and 10 Research and Application Centers, 1 technopark and 1 central laburatory. Total 28.477 students study at the academic departments of NOHU and 592 of which are international students, and 925 Academic staff, 449 of which are faculty members having a Ph.D degree, work at the University.

Nigde Omer Halisdemir University has a student-oriented educational perspective which aims at equipping students with quality education and preparing them for business life. It is a respectful, internationally recognized university which has a competitive power in the field of science and technology at international level, and takes place, both as a partner and coordinator, in international projects. It has modern laboratories equipped with the latest technology which respond the needs of students, ateliers for various vocational training in different professional fields, and technology classrooms. In view of these facilities, it offers an education and training environment in compliance with the international standards to its students.

The university provides various opportunities for education, which are not limited to within the campus walls. Therefore, academic programmes and education and training strategies in Nigde Omer Halisdemir University are determined and developed in a way that will meet the requirements of our era and business life. The academic staff of NOHU is young, productive, dynamic and experienced; they have been abroad for education and scientific researches so they are good at communicating with both our students and foreign students. The students have the opportunity of working in international projects as well as scientific researches carried out in our university. The conferences and workshops given at the university also provide the students to get in touch with the real life or business life out of university.

The university participated in Erasmus Progamme in 2005 and every year students of Nigde Omer Halisdemir University take the chance of going abroad for their education for one or two semesters under the Erasmus Programmes and Academic protocol exchange programmes as well. Nigde Omer Halisdemir University hosts foreign students and staff under Erasmus Programmes and the other protocol agreement programmes. As of today, in the framework of Erasmus Programme, Nigde Omer Halisdemir University has made bilateral agreements with 77 different universities from 19 different European countries. Moreover, the university has developed academic cooperative agreements with 21 different universities around the World.

The Diploma Supplement is an important document for the holders since it helps the definition of European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) in International Higher Education Area by giving detailed information about the degrees, levels and professional competencies. After completing the process of Bologna successfully, Nigde Omer Halisdemir University was awarded Diploma Supplement Label in 2012 by the European Commission. As a result, Nigde Omer Halisdemir University has gained the academic and professional recognition to increase the transparency of qualifications by the help of Diploma Supplement. In 2013 Nigde Omer Halisdemir University was also awarded with the ECTS Label because of its applications in Bologna Process and its applications. This reward is known as the excellency label around the world.
