Library

University library services are provided at Nigde Omer Halisdemir University Central library which has a centralized collection of books and journals nearly all of which are on open shelves and easily accessible to users. It has been designed to provide the latest electronic and multimedia resources, as well as traditional library materials and services, in an inviting and service oriented atmosphere. Seating is available for 600 students at reading tables at a time or individual study carrels, on comfortable lounge furniture in several areas. 600 Internet connections are available. The Central Library is committed to meet the information needs of all members of the University as quickly and efficiently as possible. Most of its services and materials are also available to academicians and researchers in the country.

The Central Library has a fine collection of 20000 books and 450 periodicals. There are 48 databases. Online resources afford instant access to thousands of scholarly international publications, including journals, scientific working papers, and conference proceedings. More than 31060 electronic journals and 40.000 electronic books are accessible through INTERNET.

The library is open 08:00-22:00 during the week and 8:00-17:00 on Saturdays. Assistance is given with finding and using the resources. It provides a place to study in peace and quietness, with materials close to hand. When books needed are not available, other libraries in Turkey and abroad are contacted to supplement the resources. Borrowing service and low-cost photocopy services are also available.

Computing and Information Services

Despite its young age the university has already completed the entire technological infrastructure and is closely following up new developments. Nigde Omer Halisdemir University provides its students and staff with access to various computing facilities. Each faculty member is given a personal computer within the scope of wireless network. Free use at any time in internet and computer centers are provided for students in each academic unit. Besides, the Internet and computer centers at institutes and library are available in the campus. There is also one special center called “Information Technologies and Reading Hall” in the campus.

Nigde Omer Halisdemir University has a very strong Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and IT services. Internet access is available in the whole buildings in campus by the help of wireless system. The students are able to connect Internet easily and they can check their schedules, exam results, do their course registrations, use library, and get in touch with their lecturers by means of interactive media via internet. Moreover, there is a free internet library in campus in order to make students easily reach to the opportunities of Internet.
