Course Objective
Computer organisation and architecture, the hardware that forms the basis of the computer and their working principles and their interaction with each other. Cache memory, Internal and External memory. Input and output units, instruction sets, addressing modes, register organisation and pipeline, RISC and CISC architectures, instruction level parallelism and superscalar processors, IA-64 architecture. Control unit and microprogrammed control units are explained in detail and it is aimed to understand the operation and technologies of these units.
Brief Content of the Course
To explain computer organisation, the main components of the computer and their relationships, new memory technologies, peripheral devices and design instruction sets for processors.
