Course Objective
Teaching of organic matters and compounds, giving of organic compounds causing environmental problems in conjunction with sub-concepts
Brief Content of the Course
History and basic concepts of organic chemistry, introduction to organic chemistry; Organic matters; Organic and inorganic compounds; Aliphatic and aromatic compounds, alkanes, alkenes, alkynes and alkyls; Functional groups, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and esters, heterocyclic compounds, alcohols, amines, amides and nitriles; enantiomer, chiral and achiral; Ozone depletion and CFCs; Chain growth polymers; Organic halogens and organometallic compounds in environment, PCB, PBB; Organic compounds used in Environmental Engineering; Environmental organics practices.
