Course Objective
To gain knowledge and skills about the structure of direct current machines and their operating characteristics. To gain knowledge and skills about the structure of synchronous machines that is used for electrical energy generation and their operating characteristics.
Brief Content of the Course
DC machine structure, energy conversion, armature reaction, excitation winding connections, the characteristics of DC machines, motor and generator operation, the DC motors starting and speed control, and various applications. The structure of synchronous machines, armature reaction, the equivalent circuit, the equations, characteristics, operating characteristics, parallel operation.
Prerequisites
It is recommended to succeed in EEM3004 Electrical Machines I course.
