Course Objective
To provide basic information about the structure of the earth, minerals, rock types and formations, weathering, erosion and soil formation, geological times, earthquakes, the principle of plate tectonics, deformation, mountain formation and the evolution of continents.
Brief Content of the Course
Meaning of earth sciences; general information about the earth, the shape and dimensions of the earth, the movements of the earth, the geospheres of the earth, the temperature of the earth, gravity and isostasis, the age of the earth; substances that make up the earth's crust, minerals, their definitions and properties, important rock-forming minerals, general information about rocks, igneous rocks, metamorphism and metamorphic rocks, sedimentary rocks, dissolution and soil, dissolution types, soil formation conditions and types; tectonic movements: orogenic movements, epyrogenic movements, faults, volcanism, earthquakes; stratigraphy, general principles, geological times; weather events, climate, winds and the formation of the seasons.
