Course Objective
To introduce the basic mathematical methods that are used in the main physics courses such as Quantum theory, Electromagnetic theory and Classical mechanics.
Brief Content of the Course
(1) Complex analysis: Complex Analytic function and Cauchy-Riemann conditions, Cauchy integral theorem, Line integral on the complex plane, Residue theorem and applications, Taylor and Laurent series, Poisson integral formula, Gamma and Beta functions, Saddle point method, Mittag-Leffler expansion, Introduction to conformal transformation and its applications, (2) Variational methods: Variational derivatives and applications in Classical mechanics, Lagrange multiplier method for the variational problems.
