Course Objective
To understand sociology as a science, to have knowledge about sociology's main fields of interest, sociological research methods and history of sociological thought. To provide a sociological understanding of issues such as sociality, culture, socialization, family, gender, social stratification, class, race, ethnicity, migration and urban problems.
Brief Content of the Course
What is sociology and sociological imagination? classical and contemporary theories of sociology and history of sociological thought, sociological research methods and techniques; cultural socialization and gender; women, family and society; social stratification and class; racial ethnic minority groups and immigration; cities and urban areas.
