Course Objective
To provide information on erathquakes and their formations, to provide information on the effects of earthquakes on buildings, to emphasize the importance of the relationship between earthquake resistance of the buildings and the architectural design, to emphasize the importance of the coordination between statistical and architectural solutions for the earthquake resistance of the buildings.
Brief Content of the Course
Formations of earthquakes, inevitability of earthquakes, the concepts of intensity and magnitude of earthquakes, the effects of earthquakes on the building components, the relationship between earthquake resistance and architectural design, design principles for earthquake resistance, the importance of cooperation of statistical and architectural solution, strengthening works, problems of post-earthquake accomoddation and proposals for solutions.
