Course Objective
This course aims to teach the development of Western music from the Baroque period to the 20th century in its aesthetic, cultural, and social context; to enable students to acquire the ability to evaluate music history analytically and comparatively by examining period differences, composers, and works.
Brief Content of the Course
The musical characteristics of the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Post-Romantic periods, the socio-cultural influences of these periods, important composers and works, and the transition to 20th-century music are examined.
