Course Objective
Students are introduced to basic logistics concepts such as transportation, handling, storage and planning, warehousing, materials management, packaging, inventory control, factory and warehouse site selection, facility design, order management and customer service. The distribution of products from warehouses to wholesalers, retailers and intermediaries, and the management of the activities related to the efficient delivery of raw materials from the source of raw materials to the production line are among the objectives of the logistics course.
Brief Content of the Course
The concept and importance of logistics, the logistics industry analysis, road, air, sea, rail and pipeline modes of transportation, storage, distribution, integrated transport. Logistics and transportation management fundamentals, the purpose and scope of logistics management, importance and scope of the different transport and transport systems; law and regulations and the cost of the system. Efficient movement of finished product on the consumer end of the production process from the source of supply of all management activities and movements of material used in the production process to the beginning. Shipping and transport, vehicle schedules, material wholesale, packaging, conservation, inventory control, and wholesale facility site selection, facility design, the demand process, marketing and customer service forecast. Basic concepts of logistics management, importance of logistics management, principles of logistics management, main elements of logistics management, obstacles and opportunities in management, customer service and planning functions, service management, inventory management, warehouse management and various aspects of logistics positioning, logistics service components, global logistics economy management. In addition, creating awareness about sustainable logistics activities and strategies.
Prerequisites
By taking this course, students can obtain necessary up-to-date knowledge and skills to prepare them for related management positions in both public and private health care organizations. Not just operational knowledge and skills, but also strategic perspective to give the attendant competitive advantage necessary in today´s competitive health care environment is the main educational target of the course. Technical and statistical methods necessary for health care material management cycle,defining needs, planning, market research, taking bids, contracting, purchasing, warehousing, inventory management, preperation, consuming, waste management/recycling are the main issues covered in this course.
