Course Objective
Teach the basic concepts and principles of social anthropology.
Brief Content of the Course
This course aims to introduce students to the discipline, history, theories, method and scope of social/cultural anthropology and to help them evaluate cultural diversity with a particular focus on contemporary societies. In the course, the historical background of anthropology, the relationship between anthropology and philosophy of science and field research, participatory observation, interview and problems encountered in the field, the organization of the material in the field, the concept of culture and other related concepts, identity, kinship, economic and political organization and similar issues will be discussed. The relationship between anthropology and social services will be established.
