Course Objective
To provide detailed information on the educational and cultural policies of significant Turkish states throughout the course of Turkish history.
Brief Content of the Course
Pre-Islamic Turkish Education; Education in the Early Muslim Turkish States; Education in the Ottoman Empire; Education and Instruction Following the Tanzimat; Education and Cultural Policies During the Atatürk Era; Education and Cultural Policies During the İnönü Era and the Village Institutes; and the Democratic Party’s Education and Cultural Activities will constitute the main topics of the course.
Prerequisites
The course is designed to encourage active student participation. Therefore, students are expected to complete the assigned readings on the topics to be covered and come to class prepared.
